CAB RESTORES AVAILABILITY OF THE PRINT HEAD WITH THE OLD PART NUMBER FOR THE SQUIX 4 AT 600 DPI

CAB, a German company internationally recognised as a manufacturer of label printing solutions, is pleased to announce an update regarding print heads for the CAB SQUIX 4 600 dpi model, a flagship product in the range renowned for its print quality and reliability, particularly in the high-precision printing of micro-labels, complex graphics, tiny text and two-dimensional barcodes (e.g. Data Matrix) on electronic components, nameplates and laboratory labels.
Background
Around a year ago, CAB changed its printhead supplier. This change led to a number of operational issues, particularly with the printheads for the SQUIX 4 600 dpi model. Initially, CAB did not allow the print head to be ordered using the old part number, opting instead to release firmware update version 5.48, which resolved some of the most pressing issues (monitoring of burnt dots and error reporting when the print head is replaced whilst the printer is switched on).
CAB’s decision
In light of the operational difficulties still being experienced by some customers following the printhead replacement and firmware update, CAB has reviewed its strategy and decided to make the old printhead part number, 5977380.001, available once again. This can only be ordered through authorised distributors, including Eurocoding, CAB’s official partner.
Operational information for the channel
The printhead with the old part number can be ordered in any quantity, even if there are no issues with the printhead currently in use.
The update to firmware version 5.48 is, however, strongly recommended, as it introduces additional diagnostic and printer management features, which are also useful for preventative maintenance.
In the event of reports of faults (e.g. prematurely burnt dots or printing errors), the Syslog file – which can be exported via USB from the Diagnostics menu – must be attached to enable a proper technical analysis
